Climbing Next Week!

Bring your signed inherent risk form back to me before you can do the climbing activities coming up next week. If you can't find me drop it at the office and ask them if they'd mind putting it in my mailbox.

Mike from Beyond the Crux will be coming to GESS at 3:30 next Weds, Nov 25th. Meet in the foyer. We will be doing part of the "Belay Course". The following 2 or 3 weeks (depending on numbers) we will be going on Weds to the Crux in Kelowna to practice our climbing skills. The climbing course including 2 days in Kelowna costs $30. Make your check out to GESS (or bring cash).

If you haven't done this pick one up in room 125 or print it off the internet from www.crev.ca and return it to me. I am sick tonight and won't be in school Thursday but my sub has the forms. If you don't do this you cann't participate in the class any longer.

Hike this Weds (October 28th -already!)

Hey you Outdoor Ed students!

We're doing a hike this Wednesday, October 28th. Try to make it! Wear your hiking boots or running shoes. Bring a raincoat, water and a granola bar or snack if you're like me and love to eat all the time! We'll be going up to the top of the hill to admire the view of 4 lakes at once. We get to use the trail that you helped to construct! It will take about 2.5 hours return trip to the top. I would appreciate it if you let me know if you need a ride so we can make sure everyone who wants to can get there. Meet at the school if you want a ride.

Weds at 3:30 - 5pm

Be there or be square. We're on for the next 2 Weds for trail building. RSVP me please - Are you coming or not?

Hiking this week not kayaking

Please plan to come for a little walk/hike up to near Seaton Park from the school on Thursday October 1st from 3:30-5. We will leave from room 125 after I take attendance. This is an easy paced walk up to the top of the radio tower and then a scramble down and walk back to school. It is a "get to know ya" expedition.Wear your running shoes or hiking boots and bring water (and a snack if you'll be hungry) with you. Everyone is expected to participate. Contact me if you can't make it.

Also, next Wednesday is our first community trail-building committment. We will leave school at 3:30 to The Lakes trailhead and be done by 5:30I will explain when I see you Thursday but plan on attending for that Wednesday and the following Wednesday, same time same place.

Van is down for sure - no kayaking this week -sorry!

Hopefully it will be towed to the mechanics tomorrow and be ready for next week.

As far as we can tell the animals got into the wiring of the van and it needs to be fixed. Apparently, it will be towed to the Dodge Dealer to get fixed soon? Not sure what soon means...

Our first Trail Building day is next Wednesday, October 7th. Depending on numbers we will either use the van or a bus to get to the trailhead at The Lakes where we will work trailbuilding for a couple of hours. We need as many people as possible to participate!

Sign up for kayaking on Weds Sept 30 and Thursday Oct 1 next week (as long as the van is working) or the following week Tuesday Oct 6th on the back of the door to my computer lab. First come, first serve and I can only take 9 students at a time

Also EVERYONE should plan to attend our first trail building mission on Spinekop (don't know how to spell it!) on Weds Oct 7th from 3:30 - 5:30. There will probably be a bus if we get everyone out. Let's do something great and help build our local trail system.

Sign up for Weds Sept 30th or Thurs Oct 1st or Friday Oct 2nd 3:30-5:30 in Oyama. First 9 to sign up for each day can come. Sign up is on the door of room 125
