Now we're booked for the Discover Scuba course

The climbing guys are just too busy to fit us in anytime soon so I'm giving up on that for now.

We are booked for the Diving Dynamics guys to come here next Monday the 22nd from 3:30 for about 45 minutes to an hour. The following week we go to their pool to do the underwater part. We'll have a bus to go - leaving at 3:30 returning around 6 to GESS. The $20 you paid already will cover it!

There are SPECIAL FORMS you need to get filled in and returned by Monday at the latest and I will put them on my site as a download or you can pick them up in 125 Weds or Thursday this week.

I'm back on Facebook so this is a repeat for some of you.

Kal Park hike

Another beautiful day in Kal Park! Great park to hike, ride or run in. We spend a lot of time here. Snow and ice are almost all gone from the trails

Ouch! No Climbing on Monday now?

Mike from Beyond the Crux climbing has cancelled on us. I can't blame the guy since we backed out last time because no one would commit. I couldn't call him until I had some money to know if we could actually do the course with him and now he says it's too late. I might be able to figure something out, we'll see.

I am more than a little frustrated.

Thanks to the 8 people who paid on time!

I believe we may actually have enough people to make the course work! Yee ha!

Three of you have promised to bring money but if you couldn't find me Friday find me on Monday morning - To the rest of you - please don't make me chase you? I don't have time:-(
Anyone who doesn't straighten this out by Monday after school will have to deal with the Administrators.

I will tell Mike from the Crux climbing gym to bring harnesses and gear for more than 10 people - maybe 15?

If you plan on staying in the course - or joining - see my webpage - you need to do EVERYTHING we are doing as a class during class time and participate in at least one trip

If you can't make it 'cause you have work, sports, grad fashion shows or anything else that's fine but please withdraw from the course - there are people who can fulfill the commitment - yes you need to make a commitment - and can't get in.

Let's have some fun -real soon - GO CANADA!

Meeting Today Mon Feb 8th

A big thank you to all of you who turned out today for the meeting! Here's what happened:

1. Made it compulsory to attend all classes. If you miss 3 classes, whether for work, sports (a valid medical excuse is possible!) you will be asked to withdraw from the course. If you can't participate please withdraw as others wish to join the class which is limited to 30 students.

2. You must pay $20 (for the Climbing Belay course, including transport to Kelowna and climbing at the gym plus instruction in the classroom) and return the "Inherent Risks Form" signed by your guardians by Friday Feb 12th or it will be considered evidence that you are dropping the course. Some other activities also cost money: x-country skiing $10, Discover Scuba $25, kayaking $10,

3. Classes and activities start Monday with the Belay Climbing Course part 1 being taught at the school 3:30-5:30. They will be mostly on successive Mondays. See the previous post about other dates until April.

4. The updated calendar was handed out in class and will be posted on the website this week.

5. Students need to participate in at least 1 multi-day trip to fulfill there commitment to 125 hours of course time. If possible, students may participate in more than one trip.

Choices are:
Cape Scott - 1 week long hiking trip in last week in April - cost $200-300 depending on numbers and other considerations
Gulf Islands - 4 day kayak trip in May - cost $300
Twin Lakes - 3 day Hiking Trip first week of June - cost $100

See you soon!

Happy Friday!

So today I'm doing many things which I didn't really plan on doing! Teaching is always like that so one gets used to it...
I really wanted to work through some 3D animation assignments to make sure they worked and I could do them - to be able to teach anyone who had trouble and I wanted to add all the IT 8 blogs to my listing webpage...

Instead so far:

This morning I set up a video of some 3D animations in the library to attract some new "talent" for courses next year - Hope it helps! Some great stuff to make there and tons of fun (1/2hr)

Then I had to prepare attendance records for the Government Audit of the school for my Outdoor Ed class (1 hour)
Then I had to prepare a DVD for Josie Evans Mom as a souvenir of her school work in Digital Media (1/2 hour)

I hope I can do some of my other stuff at the same time as I'm burning the DVD for the Evans on my Macbook Pro using IMovi and IDVD

Rock on! The weekend is coming too!
